Each year, the Alumni Association's Charity Bowl uses the excitement and engagement of a Buckeye football bowl game to raise money or resources for a worthy cause.
This year, the Association will again ask alumni to support the Mid-Ohio Food Bank or food pantries in their area. In 2008, the Charity Bowl effort to beat hunger helped Ohio State alumni to donate more than 72,000 meals to food pantries throughout the country.
More details on Charity Bowl 2010 will be available after bowl selections are announced on Sunday, Dec. 5.
Past Charity Bowls have allowed Ohio State alumni to turn out in strong support of other philanthropic efforts.
In 2007, the Charity Bowl effort to benefit the Recovery School District in New Orleans resulted in more than $67,000 being donated to the impoverished district.
In 2009, the Association is supporting student scholarship by asking alumni and friends to support Charity Bowl 2009: Students First, Students Now.
These efforts help alumni pay forward to benefit those who are less fortunate.
