CLUB AWARDS 2006
GOLD STAR CLUBS
Winners of the Gold Star Award are the top 10 percent of our Outstanding Alumni Clubs. Thanks to dedicated volunteers and innovative thinking, these clubs have distinguished themselves in their support for Ohio State. We are pleased to honor seven alumni clubs.
- AZ/PHOENIX
- Raised $10,000 for various charities including the Red Cross and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
- Encouraged OSUAA membership in their newsletter and Web site.
- FL/SARASOTA-MANATEE
- Formed a Young Buckeyes group within the club for 21-45 year-old Buckeyes. This group focuses on community and philanthropic events; 62 of the 250 club members are active with the Young Buckeyes group.
- Raised over $18,000 in 2005 allowing the club to achieve an endowment level of $50,000.
- KY/LOUISVILLE
- Sponsored the Ohio State Marching Band's appearance in the 2006 Pegasus Parade as part of the Kentucky Derby Festival.
- Held programs to encourage more participation from younger alumni including a family night when the Louisville Bats took on the Columbus Clippers.
- KNOX COUNTY
- Hosted a free concert by the OSU Men's Glee Club in Mount Vernon with an audience of over 800 people.
- Participated in the Knox County Food for the Hungry drive. They garnered 50 truckloads of food and over $143,000.
- MARION COUNTY
- Hosted the Ohio State Marching Band in full concert.
- Reached goal of having 350 members and have added 10 new members per month since reaching the goal.
- RICHLAND COUNTY
- Received the newly instituted Diversity Grant to sponsor a dance program known as Step Afrika.
- Participated in community service events such as "Adopt-a-Highway" and provided goody bags for students living in the Molyet campus apartments.
- WASHINGTON, D.C.
- Started a cultural lecture series with tours of the Old Executive Office Building and the World War II Memorial.
- Held a formal professional networking event in conjunction with the Fisher College of Business.

Groups are judged on several criteria including how meeting announcements and summaries are presented, adequate listings of officers, and the frequency of publication.
