SOCIETY AWARDS 2007

GOLD STAR ALUMNI SOCIETIES
This honor goes to the top 10 percent of alumni societies.

  • COLLEGE OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES ALUMNI SOCIETY
    • Volunteered to clean, remove brush, paint, and more at the annual Buckeye Island Hop at Lake Erie
    • Increased attendance at annual event for graduating seniors by focusing on the society and creating a celebratory feel
  • GAY, LESBIAN, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER ALUMNI SOCIETY
    • Capitalized on growing interest in the 2008 election by hosting a forum and debate watching party
    • Organized the nation's larges campus-based scholarship program for gay students
  • SORORITY AND FRATERNITY
    • Worked with students to raise more than $5,000 to buy equipment for Columbus fire fighters
    • Promoted OSUAA membership at a charity golf outing by displaying the logo at the hole sponsored by the socieyt and providing membership materials at registration

This award is given to an alumnus who has provided superior service to his/her society and the University.  Those who receive this award have provided leadership service to OSU, developed society initiatives, acted above and beyond their duties and took part in community and civic work.
