Alumni travelers in New Zealand and Australia
Our tour to New Zealand and Australia is well under way, and we'll be sharing photos when possible. Tour host Ginny Trethewey reports: "We are loving New Zealand and appreciate how lucky we were to be away from poor Christchurch and able to enjoy the wonders of this beautiful country. From Bungy jumping to paragliding to boating to sheep shearing to enjoying the 'Lord of the Rings' scenery, we are a happy group and Gohagan, our tour operator, is smoothing the unexpected travel changes for us."

Te Anau, NZ

Above: scenery on the way from Te Anau to Queenstown, New Zealand. From our host: "Spent Thursday night in Te Anau and did the Glow Worm Caves this morning. Beautiful boat trip and eerily interesting worms! Were all trying to remember the words to Glow little Glow Worm. Return drive through beautiful countryside." Travelers, if you want to sing along, click here for the lyrics.

As we leave New Zealand, a word about Kiwi.  A kiwi fruit is really a Chinese Gooseberry. New Zealanders claimed it, named it, and popularized it but never registered the name.  A kiwi is the national bird--a nocturnal, flightless, large bird.  And native (or at least those who can claim several generations) New Zealanders are called Kiwi--proudly.
