The Alumni Association is launching the 2013 Club and Society Virtual Rider Challenge, an initiative that allows alumni from around the country to support Pelotonia.

Pelotonia is an annual bike ride in Central Ohio that benefits Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center. This year's ride will happen on Aug. 9-11, and marks the fifth year for the event. To date, nearly $45 million has been raised for cancer research at Ohio State through Pelotonia.

To participate in the Challenge, clubs and societies are asked to create a peloton (team) within Team Buckeye, the super peloton that represents all Ohio State participants. Pelotons must have a minimum of 20 virtual riders join the team to qualify for the competition. Virtual riders are Pelotonia supporters who are not riding, but have made a minimum $10 donation to join a peloton.

A peloton should be named after the alumni group it represents, and must have a team captain. The team captain can be determined by the club or society.

The club and society that register the most virtual riders will win the competition and be awarded $500 to put toward any upcoming alumni programs.
