SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISING IDEAS
Raising scholarship dollars and awarding funds is one of the ways that clubs and societies contribute to the Alumni Association’s goal of cultivating student loyalty.
Even successful fundraisers can benefit from thinking about new strategies. Use the list below to start a discussion about new fundraising programs at your next board or committee meeting.
- Include a line for scholarship donations on your event reservation forms
- Work with a local restaurant to set up a night when a certain percent of the profits go to your scholarship
- Promote special events as scholarship fundraisers, pledging all or a portion of the net proceeds to your scholarship fund
- Host a golf outing, wine tasting, night out, or other creative fundraiser
- Advertise your event in community papers that often run free event announcements
- Pass the hat at game watch events
- Consider selling a seasonal item in your area – mulch, flower bulbs, wreaths, and holiday pies are all good options
- Hold a 50/50 raffle
- Have a silent or live auction
- Sell the Entertainment Book or another discount card
- Ask local businesses for gift cards or other items to be auctioned or raffled off
- Conduct a campaign to gather 1 million pennies – pass a penny jar around each time the group gathers
- Sell a unique product using Marketplace
