The 2010 All Decade African American Reunion is scheduled for Apr. 30 to May 2, 2010, but there's no reason to wait until then to get involved.

Activities for the event have already started with the opening of the recognition awards nomination period.

We invite you to nominate African American alumni in one of four awards categories. These awards, which will be presented during the reunion gala on May 1, celebrate and recognize the achievements of Ohio State's most accomplished African American alumni.

Awards are presented in these four categories:

• Frank W. Hale Honorary Leadership Award for devotion to the African American community at Ohio State.
• Jesse Owens Influential Athlete Award for consummate athleticism and humanitarianism.
• Samella Lewis Professional Achievement Award for career accomplishments and community service.
• Larry Williamson Distinguished Service Award for influencing positive change in services to minority students.

The application period for these awards is open now and will remain open until Jan. 31, 2010.
