As Ohio’s flagship university, The Ohio State University conducts world-class research and is home to some of the nation’s brightest minds in higher education. To share those intellectual resources with our northeast Ohio alumni and friends, the university is launching a special speaker series to create an ongoing dialogue that is equal parts enriching and exciting.
You are invited to the inaugural event of the series, featuring Provost Joseph E. Steinmetz. As head of academics at the university, Dr. Steinmetz has a unique vantage point and grasp of its immense intellectual firepower. He will take you inside some of our faculty and researchers’ current work and share how the university as a whole is taking on issues of worldwide magnitude by doing what Buckeyes do best: thinking even bigger and taking action.
In our increasingly global community, diseases account for a vast majority of mortality, and climate change and population growth are straining our energy resources, food systems and environment. These are challenges that no single discipline can solve; rather, they require a 360-degree approach that answers issues as disparate as public policy, logistics and crop science.
Join Dr. Steinmetz to learn what Ohio State’s expert faculty are figuring out and producing together, and how some of the results can be seen firsthand in Northeast Ohio—from electricity generated from Browns fans’ leftovers to improvements in Lake Erie’s water quality and conditions.
