COLUMBUS, Ohio – Samira K. Beckwith, president and CEO of Hope Hospice, in Fort Myers, Fla., is the recipient of the Ohio State Alumni Association’s 2009 Alumni Medalist Award, which will be presented at the Association’s annual awards gala on Sept. 25, at the Hyatt Regency Columbus.
Beckwith is one of 16 Ohio State alumni who will be honored at the 51st annual awards. A two-time graduate of Ohio State (B.A. Sociology, ’74 and M.A. Social Work, ’77), Beckwith is an advocate for hospice care and has served as a social worker, author, and spokesperson to help influence policy makers.
Past Alumni Medalists include Lonnie and Ellen Mosley Thompson, Dr. Girmai Abraham, and Tom Wheeler.
The Alumni Association is a dues-supported organization of graduates, former students, and friends of the university with more than 120,000 members.
