COLUMBUS—The Ohio State Alumni Association’s Scarlet, Gray, and Green Buckeye Bash on Saturday, Sept. 11, will be the university’s first large-scale zero-waste event.
A zero-waste event is one in which event organizers plan ahead to reduce solid waste from the event, reuse various elements such as banners, and set up recycling for those recyclable materials such as paper cups, food scraps, and plastic water bottles that are generated by the event. The Alumni Association is partnering with Green Columbus and Ohio State’s Department of Facilities Operations and Development to assure that the event meets zero-waste criteria.
The Bash will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, outside Longaberger Alumni House. Ohio State’s football game against Miami that day starts at 3:30 p.m.
Tickets for the Bash are $10 for Alumni Association members and $15 for non-members. The price includes food from Raising Canes Chicken Fingers, non-alcoholic beverages, and entrance into the event. Beer will be available for purchase.
This Bash will feature appearances by Alumni Association president and CEO Archie Griffin and the Ohio State cheerleaders. For more information, visit the OSUAA Web site at http://www.ohiostatealumni.org/events/BuckeyeBash/Pages/MiamiBash2010.aspx or call (800) 862-5827 or (614) 292-2371.
