Ohio State alumni clubs and societies are encouraged to host a game-watch party for the men’s basketball season opener onboard the USS Yorktown on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
The Buckeyes are taking on Marquette University in the Carrier Classic which will be televised by the NBC Sports Network. In conjunction with the game, we are asking each group to sponsor efforts to support members of the military, veterans, and their families. If you need ideas, contact Craig Little (little@ohiostatealumni.org) or Kimberly Lowe (lowe@ohiostatealumni.org).
The University of North Carolina participated last year and held 67 game-viewing parties and 52 service projects. UNC had 3100 alumni and fans contribute more than $14,500, donated more than 11,000 items, packed more than 250 care packages and wrote more than 350 notes and postcards. We know Ohio State alumni can beat those numbers.
Visit our Web page that lists all of the alumni groups participating in the effort and the veterans' groups they'll benefit.
In addition to the local events, the Alumni Association will host a game-watch party at Longaberger Alumni House, with funds being raised to benefit the Veterans House on campus.
If you choose to participate, please complete the
Carrier Classic reporting form and return to Craig by Nov. 2.
