TANZANIA MIGRATION ITINERARY
DAY 1 & 2 - DEPART U.S. / ARRIVE ARUSHA
Connect in Amsterdam with your flight to Kilimanjaro Airport, arriving late evening. You will be met on arrival by Safari Legacy and transferred to the historical Arusha Hotel for a welcome briefing and overnight.
DAY 3 - TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, we depart Arusha, traveling southwest through the Maasai Steppe to Tarangire National Park.
This evening we will enjoy an “Ohio State Alumni” welcome reception.
Overnight Safari Legacy’s Kikoti Safari Camp, our private-tented camp overlooking the park.
DAY 4 - TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Full day exploring Tarangire National Park. Here we observe a diversity of wildlife amidst the many baobab trees for which the park is famous. Tarangire, best known for its herds of elephant, is home to more than 2,500 individuals. Other common mammals include Impala, African Buffalo, Common Zebra and Masai Giraffe. Rarer mammals include Leopard, Fringe-eared Oryx and Lesser Kudu. The park is also home to more than 260 bird species.
Overnight Kikoti Safari Camp.
DAY 5 - TARANGIRE / LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
Depart Tarangire, arriving at Kirurumu Tented Camp, located on the high edge of the Great Rift Valley.
After lunch, we descend to Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive.
DAY 6 & 7 - NGORONGORO CRATER
After breakfast, travel to the Ngorongoro Crater, the Earth’s largest unbroken caldera. A veritable “Garden of Eden”, the Crater is reputed to contain the highest density of carnivores, which includes Cheetah, Leopard and Lion. This is the only place in East Africa where one can easily observe a natural population of black rhino.
Our home for the next two nights is our own Safari Legacy’s Tented Camp.
DAY 8 & 9 - OLDUVAI GORGE / SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (SERONERA VALLEY)
After breakfast we travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, driving around the crater’s rim descending to Olduvai Gorge. Olduvai Gorge is one of the most important prehistoric archaeological sites on Earth.
After viewing the Gorge and listening to an interpretive presentation, we continue to Tanzania’s most renowned national park, the Serengeti. Home to the greatest concentration of large mammals on Earth, the migratory herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle roam widely in search of green grass and water. Morning and afternoon drives.
We spend two nights at Safari Legacy’s Tented Camp, perfectly situated near the migrating herds of Wildebeest and Zebra.
DAY 10 & 11 - SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (WESTERN CORRIDOR – GRUMETI)
Traveling west beyond the Seronera Valley, we enter the Western Corridor and Grumeti River region of the park. Famous for a population of huge Nile Crocodiles, the Grumeti is located in a lovely rolling hill and acacia woodland habitat. Morning and afternoon game drives each day will provide an opportunity to explore this great park which provides a year round habitat for many of the Serengeti’s bird and mammal species.
We spend two nights at the beautiful Mbalageti Serengeti Tented Camp and we'll enjoy a farewell bush dinner on our last night in the Serengeti.
DAY 12 - SERENGETI / ARUSHA
After our morning game drive we fly back to Arusha. We enjoy dayrooms at the Arusha Hotel until our transfer to the airport this evening.
DAY 13 – ARRIVE U.S.
Connect in Amsterdam and arrive in the U.S.
