Karen Wyscarver

College: Arts and Sciences

Degree: ’91 BA English

Career: Television writer

Notable: Wyscarver has been working in Hollywood since 1998. She started out working as an assistant in Disney Television on shows such as Home Improvement and Boy Meets World. Upon learning that one could make a living writing for television, she took the necessary steps to teach herself the art of television and screenwriting by reading every book and taking every class recommended by colleagues.  Wyscarver went from Disney to working for executive producer Jason Katims and from there, landed her first writing job on the David E. Kelley series, Boston Public.  Once there, she teamed up with another writer, Sanford Golden, and the two (now partners) have written and produced Boston Legal, The Deep End, Private Practice and currently The Finder—a spin-off of the Hart Hanson series Bones.  The series will air on Fox in January.  She also volunteers her time with Food on Foot, a non-profit organization in Hollywood.
